Making Beeswax from Honeycomb

Making Beeswax from Honeycomb

How to make beeswax from honeycomb:

Step 1: Collect your honeycomb. Using a warm knife, slide the knife up the wooden frame of the honeycomb to remove the wax caps. You can also use the complete honeycomb once the honey is removed.

Step 2: Simmer wax. There are two methods for simmering the wax. The first one is to put all the honeycomb into a cheesecloth. Simmer the cheesecloth bundle in water for 5-10 mins. The second method is placing the honeycomb directly in the water. After simmering, filter the honeycomb water through a cheesecloth.

Step 3: Repeat step 2 as many times as necessary to remove all the dirt. Beeswax should be clean and golden in color.

Step 4: Package beeswax. Pour the clean beeswax into any containers you wish to store it. Allow several hours for the beeswax to harden.

Beeswax can be used to make all natural candles, lip balm, beard wax, furniture polish, and much more!
